Newly built composite deck with white railings, black balusters, built-in bench and outdoor dining set

Custom Deck Building in Charlotte, NC

A new deck should fit your house, your yard, and the way your family actually uses it. We design and build custom decks in pressure-treated wood and low-maintenance composite — engineered from the footings up.

What we do

Every FrameCraft deck starts with a site visit. We look at grade, drainage, sun exposure, and how you plan to use the space — grilling, dining, a hot tub, a play area — and design the layout around it. You get a written, itemized estimate before any work starts.

We build on properly sized concrete footings with flashed ledger boards, galvanized hardware, and code-compliant framing. For decking you can choose budget-friendly pressure-treated pine or composite boards (Trex and similar brands) that keep their color without yearly staining.

Multi-level layouts, wrap-around designs, benches, planters, skirting, and built-in lighting — if you can sketch it, we can frame it.

Common questions

How long does a new deck take to build?

Most single-level decks take about one to two weeks from the first board to final walkthrough, depending on size, site conditions, and permit timelines. We give you a schedule with your estimate and keep you updated as we build.

Wood or composite — which should I choose?

Pressure-treated wood costs less up front but needs staining or sealing every couple of years. Composite costs more initially, but it doesn't rot, splinter, or fade the way wood does — most of our Charlotte clients choose composite for the long-term savings. We'll price both options for you.

Do I need a permit for a new deck in the Charlotte area?

In most Charlotte-area jurisdictions, decks attached to the house or above a certain height require a building permit. We handle the paperwork and inspections as part of the project, so you don't have to deal with the county.
